I have always been fascinated by these black tiny seeds which are full of nutrients and a great source of protein. Did you know that 'chia' is the ancient Mayan word for ‘strength’? No wonder the Mayans and Aztecs considered it one of their staple foods...
I’m all for making eating easy, enjoyable, and ensuring our lovely cells absorb all the nutrients from real foods. To help maximise this superfoods' benefits and digest it easier, it is better to soak the seeds for a few hours and here’s a handy and easy tip for you:
Fill a quarter of a jar with chia seeds, then add filtered water to the top. Stir it, then leave it in the fridge. You will see the water will be absorbed by the seeds and they will take a gel-like consistency. You can then keep this jar in the fridge for 7-10 days.
What I like about this is that having the seeds readily soaked, I can use them in my porridge, smoothies, omelette (yeap, you’ve read this right) whenever I want, I don’t have to sit and wait for them to soak or to remember to soak them overnight in order to use them the next day.
