Following on from the golden paste recipe, here is a delicious warm drink you can prepare in less than 5 minutes.
I’ve seen loads of golden milk recipes and I have no doubt they taste delicious. But when I look at a recipe now it’s not only the taste I’m after but also the health benefits...
Turmeric needs to be absorbed in our cells in order to be of any help; and here’s the thing: it has poor bioavailability (the amount of an ingredient that gets absorbed in the body). That’s why I like to use the golden paste since two of the ingredients - piperine (a major component of black pepper) and the coconut oil have been found to increase turmeric’s absorption on the body.
1 teaspoon turmeric golden paste
½ teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup of milk (I prefer almond milk)
1 teaspoon of maple syrup or honey to taste
2 cardamom pods, cracked open
1 vanilla pod (optional)
Add all ingredients in a pot over medium heat and whisk until they are well blended. Then simmer over low heat for a couple of minutes.
Strain the milk and if you fancy, use a frother to get the milk nice and foamy (it’s completely optional).
Now go ahead and enjoy your own golden milk latte! x
